What is discipline? While most parents may feel like that already know that is, and for them it is a spanking when their child is acting up. But that is not what discipline means, the true definition of discipline is to simply teach our children, and we do not have to do this physically. Children actually don’t even respond to physical discipline, they will only feel a sense of resentment from you if you are so quick to hurt them when they are acting up. As parents we have to learn how to provide our kids with gentle discipline, and we will receive better responses from them. First we need to teach them about self-discipline, it is important for them to develop their own sense of inner discipline, this is done by showing them good role modeling and guidance. By the time they grow up they will be good responsible individuals. Second is safety, our children need to always feel safe with us we need to always show them love and support, we never want them to fear us. Third is partnership, parents have to understand why their children act a certain way, in most situations they are simply acting their age so we have to be able to guide them through this process. Lastly Respect, children can sense if there is a mutual respect and we must respect them as well as it will only make it easier for them to listen to what we are saying.
